Navigating the menus
The main menu can be opened by pressing the left encoder when the device is not playing a song. The current setlist and song will be displayed at the top of the screen, followed by some options. Turning the encoder left and right moves the selector, pressing the encoder selects the option. The EXIT button in the middle below the encoders can be used to return to playback mode.
Edit song
You can change the following settings for the currently selected song:
Level adjust
This control lets you make an adjustment to all the output levels just for this song. So for instance, if the song is a bit louder than others in the setlist, you can turn this knob down to -2 and it will reduce all of the outputs by -2dB just for this particular song. Note that this is relative to each output’s current level. So if an output is at 95 and you set Song Adjust to -2, then the output will be at 93 (-7dB) for this song.
At end
This setting defines the behaviour that happens when the song finishes. You have 3 options here: Queue next - This will queue up the next song in the setlist when the current one finishes. All you have to do to start the song when it is queued is press PLAY.
Play next - This will automatically begin playback of the next song.
Loop - This will start playback of the current song again. The song continues to loop until you manually stop it or play another song.
Cueing the next loop
You can cue a song to play after the next loop by selecting it whilst the current song is looping. When the loop finishes, instead of starting again, it will switch to the selected song. Using this method you can create arrangements on the fly by making songs for each section of a track; verse chorus, etc. and setting them to loop.
BPM
This just sets the BPM for the song’s visual metronome. If the metronome flash is enabled, the play button will flash at the chosen BPM, before and during playback. If a midi file is loaded for the song, the P-1 will use the BPM value set here before the song starts, then switch to taking the BPM from the midi file tempo during playback. Note that the BPM setting on the P-1 does not affect the playback speed of the tracks. The P-1 is not capable of time-stretching audio.
Browse setlists
Load list
Selecting this option opens a list of available setlists on the SD card. Pressing the left encoder again will load the selected list.
Settings
Global settings which will be retained when the unit is switched off.
Screen contrast
Adjusts the contrast of the display.
Screen brightness
Adjusts the brightness of the display.
Metronome flash
Turns on or off the visual metronome. When Metronome flash is on, the Play button will flash at the song BPM.
Midi thru
When midi thru is turned on, the device will pass any midi signals coming into the midi in port to the midi out port. This can be used to trigger the P-1 via midi and then also trigger any devices further down the chain. Note that midi thru does not merge the midi file playback from the P-1 into the signal sent to midi out. When midi thru is on, the device will not play midi files.
Midi Clock
Select whether the P-1 will send midi clock signals via the Midi output port.
