My Mac will not open the Idoru software. It says the developer cannot be verified.
Right-click (command+click) the application and select ‘open’.
This will show a warning again but with an open button. After you do this the first time it will then open like normal each time after that. The warning happens because we still need to officially register the software with Apple and get them to whitelist it.
My P-1 is stuck showing the message ‘USB MASS STORAGE MODE’
Make sure the SD card has a valid session on it You need to have created a session with at least one song in it on the software, and sent it to the SD card for the device to read the card.
Make sure you export to the root of the SD card
When you click ‘Send session to P-1’ in the software, a window will appear to choose the target. Make sure you are selecting the root of the SD card to export to by clicking on its volume name, and are NOT selecting inside the ‘lists’ folder.
If you are on Windows and using your own SD card which is larger than 32GB:
If you are using a card that came with your P-1 it is already formatted correctly and ready to use.
If you are using another card, make sure it is formatted it to FAT32 filesystem. Windows no longer lets you do this easily with cards larger than 32GB so please follow the instructions here if you use a larger card: https://www.diskgenius.com/resource/how-to-format-sd-card-to-fat32.html
If you are using your own SD card on Mac:
If you are using a card that came with your P-1 it is already formatted correctly and ready to use.
If you are using another card, make sure it is formatted as FAT32, which appears as ‘MS-DOS (FAT)’ format in Disk Utility. You must also use this format even if the card is larger than 32GB.
Check the connection:
When you eject the P-1 in Finder, it may reconnect a few seconds later. Make sure you eject and then unplug the USB cable from the P-1 to exit USB mass storage mode.
If the pedal is still stuck in mass storage mode, power on and off the pedal by removing and reinserting the power supply to the pedal.
The song shows up as 0:00 length on the P-1 and does not play.
- Check your wav files are 16bit 44.1kHz format.
- Check you have at least one wav file in the song in your software. The P-1 will play a song with only a midi file and output the midi messages, but no song length will be shown.
- There is a known issue with audio files exported from Switch Audio Converter. If you need to convert files from 24 bit to 16 bit please try a different tool, for instance Reaper can batch convert. Here is a video on how to do that.
- The P-1 currently supports setlist, song and file names with the characters a-z, A-Z, 0-9 and symbols !@#$%^_=+-&()
- Check that your setlist, song and filenames only contain these characters.
- Check that the names are under 32 characters.
The pedal gets stuck on the startup screen
This usually happens if the files on the SD card are not in the structure the P-1 expects. Check your SD card has one folder called ‘lists’ and one called ‘update’. Inside the ‘lists’ folder there should be a folder for each setlist, and inside each setlist folder should be a folder for each song.
Please avoid storing saved sessions (.idoru files) directly on the SD card . These files are intended to be saved on your computer for when you need to reopen a session in the desktop software, and they may interfere with the the P-1 reading the exported session if stored on the SD.
If you see multiple ‘lists’ folders nested inside each other, then the software may have incorrectly exported your new session inside the old one, instead of overwriting it. In this case follow these steps:
- Copy the contents of the SD card somewhere on your computer to back it up.
- Delete everything on the SD.
- Open your session in the Idoru desktop software by selecting ‘Load’ and selecting the .idoru file that contains your session.
- Click the 'Send session' button and select the root of the SD card by clicking on its name on the file explorer window that appears. Note that you do not need to select or open any subfolders, only target the root of the SD.
- Send the session to the SD card.
I have trouble with my midi file
Check your midi file has the extension .mid If your file has the extension .midi (i.e from Cubase) you can rename it to .mid to import properly into the software.
If using Ableton, not that there are some limitations with Ableton’s midi export which will mean:
- Midi files will always be exported as 120BPM.
- Midi files will only contain one midi channel.
- Patch change messages may not work.
In this case you can use Reaper or another DAW to correctly edit and export your midi files.
I cannot open the menu by pressing the left (white) knob
The menu will not open if the player is in a playing or paused state. If you are using the default control system, hold down the play button for 1.5 seconds so the player stops the song. With the player now in the stopped state, press the left knob and the menu should open.
I am getting clicking, popping, glitching or time-stretching noises during playback
Try a faster SD card, it may be that the read and write speed of your SD card is too slow for the number of tracks you are using.
Idoru P-1 supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards. It is important that card has fast enough random read speed, for this reason we recommend Class 10 SD cards with A1 class (Speed Class 1).
I’m getting unpredictable behaviour when trying to play songs on the P-1
The P-1 currently supports setlist, song and file names with the characters a-z, A-Z, 0-9 and symbols !@#$%^_=+-&()
- Check that your setlist, song and filenames only contain these characters.
- Check that the names are under 32 characters.
If everything is exported from the Idoru software then it should all be compliant.
The software is stuck copying files to the P-1 and never finishes.
- Try creating an empty folder on your computer and set this as the target when you click ‘Send session to P-1’. If the export completes, you can copy the contents of this folder (the 2 folders ‘lists and ‘update’) on to your SD card and try it in the P-1.
- If you have an SD card reader, try using the SD card in that and select it as the target after clicking ‘Send session to P-1’. If the export completes, try using the card in the P-1.
If you have a lot of wav files it may take a while for the session to finish copying, although you should still see the red progress bar at the top of the screen start to fill up after a minute or so, even with large sessions.
We are looking into improving the write speed of the P-1 during export operations.
When I insert an SD card I can see the name of the setlists but no controls are working.
- Turn the left encoder to select which setlist you want to load, and press it to load the selected setlist.
When I try to update the firmware on the P-1, it says ‘There is no valid file’.
- Make sure there is at least one setlist and song on the card.
- Try allowing the unit to start normally (with nothing held down), and check the number that appears on the start up screen next to ‘SW’. This is the currently installed firmware version, the device will only let you install a version that is different to the currently installed one.
